![]() ![]() To actually farm the wood, you’ll need to lure them to fallen trees so they can smash them to bits - letting you run around and collect the wood. They’ll swing wildly in forested areas, and you’ll quickly see how fast they knock down trees. To get all the wood you could ever want, just find one carrying a tree trunk club. Trolls are giant monsters found in the Black Forest biome. It helps to put down a Portal so you can quickly run back / forth to the area, or use a friend to kite the troll around while you’re busy collecting, but neither of these 100% necessarily. ![]() Trolls Are You Friends | How To Use Trolls To Farm Wood Since the vast majority of these stone deposits are in the sky, it’s much easier to completely undermine the stone pillar.12 Tips The Game Doesn’t Explain | Beginner’s Guide | How To Tame & Breed Boars | Comprehensive Healing Potion Crafting Guide | 4 Tips To Improve FPS Performance | 9 Tips To Survive The Swamps | How To Summon All Bosses | Best Mods List | How To Move Loot Easier | Inventory Guide | How To Unlock & Craft Portals | How To Find Haldor The Trader | How To Unlock The Best Weapons The only time we have found undermining to be particularly effective is when mining stone in the plains, just like in the example images. All the effort to unearth the entire node and then undermine the bottom parts of the deposit will usually take more time than just mining it the traditional way. This method doesn’t work very well on copperor stone nodes that are mostly underground. Practically, it’s not (at least in most cases). Theoretically, this is the optimal method of mining. These parts are shown as yellow dashed wireframes in the image below: Unearth the entire node and destroy all the parts that make up the bottom of the whole. Our theory is that it involves unfortunate timing with server lag or world-saving. We currently have not noticed a pattern for when this happens. It seems that this occurs when the node explodes but doesn’t drop any items for some reason. Nodes will sometimes disappear when using this method. When a node is completely undermined and the bottom parts are destroyed (and only then), the Valheim engine realizes the node is free-floating and it instantly explodes raining stone and ores down upon you. The whole node is shown as green wireframes in this image: The node is free-floating in the image below and should explode into all its individual parts, except there are parts hidden below the surface. Once we realize the nodes remain whole even when they’re visibly separated, we can use this to our advantage. Instead, when you seem to break apart the whole, you actually just remove some of the parts of the still cohesive whole. Yellow (dashed): Underground Destructible Parts of the Node When you mine a node and destroy some of its parts, you don’t separate the node into multiple wholes. Remove any connection of the vein to the sides, trees, rocks etc. Dig under the copper vein, removing any connection to the floor. ![]() Nodes in Valheim are two things at the same time: (1) A cohesive whole and (2) a collection of destructible parts. UPDATE: Extremely Efficient Copper Mining Method Underneath Ore Once foundation destroyed Empty Pit Dig as deep as you can all the way around the copper vein. The key to understanding this system is to look at the technical composition of the nodes.
